The Silver and Turquoise Board of Hostesses has the delight of continuing one of Tucson’s longest running community celebrations, the Silver and Turquoise Ball. A beloved tradition since 1950, the Ball is one of the loveliest gala events in the community. It celebrates what makes Tucson a special place to live: the mix of cultures that contribute to our vibrant community life, the strong creative influence of the arts, the presence of history all around us, and the dedicated people who work hard, give generously and lead with intelligence to make Tucson a wonderful city.
The 2017 Ball Chair, Susie Christy, brings a long-standing commitment of caring to Tucson.
Though she modestly refers to herself as “Susie Homemaker,” Susie Christy has assumed many distinguished job titles over the years: nurse, award-winning volunteer, mother and grandmother. This year, she adds another: Chair of the 2017 Silver & Turquoise Ball. “It is one of the greatest honors I have ever received,” says the beautiful, gracious native Tucsonan. “I am beyond humbled to have been asked to lead this extraordinary group of women.”
Now, at the helm of the historic Silver & Turquoise Ball, Christy is resolved in the ball’s importance to our scenic, southern Arizona community. “It is one of Tucson’s oldest and finest traditions and I believe the most elegant of all local events. I believe the continuation of traditions is one of the most important things we can do to bring the memories from the past into the future.”
